Fragments
A lyrical and harmonic exposition on the claim: human wretchedness is its greatness. A harmonically dynamic piece complementing a similarly dynamic lyrical concept based on Blaise Pascal's anthropological argument set in Pensées. In conjunction with the emotions and attributes of guilt, the general (but imperfect) propensity for good, strivings for identity, will and purpose, reverence for nature and the grandeur of the universe, appreciation of design and beauty, the impression of wretchedness points humanity to a calling far higher than the dust of the ground.
Coffeeshopgirl
Recorded live at Conrad Prebys Music Center. A largely diatonic yet tonal center-agnostic groove idea composed and produced by Larry Lee, featuring an exposition on the classic local coffeeshopgirl and even subtle digs on wages in the coffee industry by lyricist and vocalist Marlo Ramada on a tiny desk suitable for a NPR Tiny Desk Contest.
